BIG IDEA: It is reasonable and right to compensate full-time ministers.
“Those who proclaim the Gospel should get their living by the Gospel.”
1 Corinthians 8:14b (ESV)
Compensation is right for ministers because:
An _________ _________ it.
A _________ _________ it.
The _________ _________ it.
The _________ _________ it.
The _________ _________ it.
BIG IDEA: It is reasonable and right to compensate full-time ministers.
Read: Re-read 1 Corinthians 9:1-14.
Think: Consider Paul’s “defense” of his rights to ministry compensation, and then ask yourself the following questions: Have you ever been denied compensation for work you’ve done? Why does Paul make such a big deal about being an apostle? What rights does he have as an apostle? How does he illustrate his right to financial compensation? Do you think Paul is denying the other apostles, prophets, teachers and preachers to their pay? How do you feel about ministers receiving compensation for their work in the ministry?
Do: Who ministers the truth of God’s Word to you as an occupation? How can you be sure they are fairly compensated for their work in the ministry?
