1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1
BIG IDEA: Just because I can doesn’t mean I should.
“’All things are lawful,’ but not all things are helpful.
‘All things are lawful,’ but not all things build up.”
1 Corinthians 10:23 (ESV)
Will this be a __________ or an __________?
Will this bring __________ or __________?
Will I be a _______ _______ or a _______ _______?
Will this ________ ________ or ________ ________?
Will this ________ ________ or ________ ________?
Will this __________ __________ __________ or
__________ them to __________?
BIG IDEA: Just because I can doesn’t mean I should.
Read: Re-read 1 Corinthians 10:23-11:1.
Think: Think about your freedom in Christ, and then ask yourself the following questions: What freedoms you enjoy have the potential to become a liability rather than an asset in your life? What freedoms could lead to slavery rather than genuine freedom? What freedoms could be a hindrance to another brother or sister in Christ? What freedoms build you up and what others have a tendency to bring you down? What freedoms do you cling to because they please you, but may or may not necessarily bring glory to God? What freedoms serve the evangelistic purpose of God’s Great Kingdom and what others actually could turn others away from Christ?
Do: Identify two or three “freedoms” you have that God may be asking you to set aside for any or all of the reasons addressed in this message.
