BIG IDEA: God ordains authority in our lives.

Read: Re-read 1 Corinthians 11:2-16.

Think: Consider Paul’s discussion about authority, and then ask yourself the following questions: What are the Corinthians doing wrong? What “theological” reasons does Paul provide for understanding the lines of authority God ordained? What “cultural” reasons? Is a head-covering a permanent need for women? Why or why not?

Do: Concern for the glory and authority of God, the interdependence of men and women and sensitivity to the culture are three principles emphasized here. Whether you are a man or woman, how will you apply these principles in your life this week?
